Chateau de Labaurie dates from c.12th century and was for many years the home of French Nobility. This historical estate provides a wonderful holiday for those feeling the need to get away from the busy pace of modern life.
Chateau de Labaurie accommodations are equipped with fridge/freezer, gas cooker, iron/board, crockery /cutlery, microwave, 200 litres of hot water per day and comfortable beds. The larger cottages have a dishwasher and a washing machine is provided on site, all have garden furniture for outside eating and barbeques. Electricity and gas for cooking are included. except for heating. Sheets and pillowcases and/or towels can be provided for a small cost.
There is a small pond at the entrance to the old driveway where you can catch a fish or two, grassed badminton and volley ball courts, double table tennis barn and half size football pitch. Our local farmer has cut paths in our woodlands for our guests to wander at their leisure. The fenced swimming pool is illuminated in the summer evenings providing a magical atmosphere for a late night dip. There is plenty of parking space.
We are 10 minutes walking distance from Chalais, the local town with a weekly large street market, bar, cafés, shops and restaurants, tennis courts, river fishing and cinema & theatre.
Within easy reach are the famous wine and brandy making tours, boat trips on the river Charente and La Dronne and the pretty village of Aubeterre
Bordeaux and Bergerac are our nearest airports.
