17th century Chateau de Labaurie once was home to a dashing French Cavalier. Restored from a ruin in 1989, this tranquil estate provides French holidays for those needing a vital escape from today's busy pace of life.

Welcome to Château Labaurie

Fairytale Chateau de Labaurie, stands majestically overlooking the pretty town of Chalais in the beautifully rolling hills of the Charente, well known for its sunny microclimate. For self-catering accommodations we have four individual cottages nestling in 43 acres of private woodlands and meadows.

 

Chambres d'Hotes - Bed and Breakfast

Within the château itself are five spacious rooms for Bed & Breakfast.

 

Self catering in the Labaurie Gites

Our Charente self-catering accommodations are fully equipped; fridge/freezer, cooker, iron/ board, crockery/cutlery, microwave, lots of hot water and comfortable beds. Some have dishwasher &/or washing machine and there is free use of a washing machine on site, plus garden furniture and barbeques. Electricity and gas for cooking are included.

 

The Grounds

The 12x 6 metre turquoise swimming pool is fenced and has underwater lighting during the summer evenings casting magical shadows onto the Louis XV former bell tower, (perfect for your late night dip). Grassed badminton court, table tennis, small football pitch and lovely walkways through our woods are at your disposal. And we have a small pond on the outskirts of our estate where you can catch a fish or two.

 

Chalais and the surrounding area

You can walk into Chalais, our local town, for its weekly street market, bar cafes, shops and restaurants, tennis courts, river fishing and cinema & theatre, and Chateau de Labaurie is ideally situated for visiting wine regions, atlantic beaches, canoeing, horse riding, and taking meandering trips on the River Charente.
